Any Gilmore Girls fan in the room? This month I got to try Stars Hollow Monthly, a subscription box by Lit-Cube.

Each month they send a box full of household and beauty goodies inspired by Stars Hollow or Girlmore Girls’ characters.

Here’s my Stars Hollow Monthly March 2017 unboxing which included:

An exclusive 18″ x 18″ throw pillow cover with the quote “What she tackles, she conquers” said by Richard Gilmore on the show. I think it’s a cute design and like that they chose an uplifting quote 🙂  Value: $14.99 (according to the info card)

An exclusive stemless wineglass set. One glass has the quote “Only prostitutes have two glasses of wine at lunch!” by Richard Gilmore. And another with Emily’s answer “Well, then buy me a boa and drive me to Reno because I’m open for business!“. I would love to bring this set out when I have guests. Value: $19.99 (according to the info card)

A coffee lip scrub and lip balm duo by Black Tie Market. These products contain real ground coffee beans and smell delicious! I like the taste of the lip balm and can’t wait to try the sugar scrub. I tried exfoliating my lips with sugar before and it’s awesome because it really works and it also tastes delicious 😉  Value: $15.99 (according to the info card)

And a fridge magnet with the quote “I would rather be at Luke’s”. It’s so cute that it’s shaped like a coffee mug!  Value: FREE

Finally, I wanted to include the info card because it’s so pretty and I love the fake “advertisements” for Kim’s Antiques and Hewes Bros (both places exist inside the show).

I think this box was really fun to open. The quotes from the show immediately remind me of certain episodes and make me smile. I also like that the items are useful and fun at the same time, because I love adding a bit of nerdy to my house. On the other hand, I think this box is missing something related to Lorelai or Rory. We got the coffee flavored lip balm/scrub, and they’re great, but I think they could improve with a Gilmore Girls themed packaging, or a Lorelai quote about coffee (she has hundreds!).

Overall, I think this box was really fun and would be a great gift for a Gilmore Girls fan.

The Stars Hollow box is $34.90 with FREE shipping in the US. You can use my discount code prettygeekery to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to the info card included, the value of the box was $50.97. Considering the lip balm/scrub duo and the pillow cover, I think the box is worth the price. I’m not too sure about the wine glass set because I’ve seen cheaper ones, but they’re fun so the price doesn’t bother me.

I received this box from Litcube in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own 🙂

Which one was your favorite item? I think mine was the pillow cover 🙂 Either that one or the coffee flavored lip balm.

What did you think about this box?

Have you heard about Charm With Me Club? This is a subscription box for fans of both charm bracelets and geeky things.

Every month they send you at least two geeky charms and sometimes complimentary neutral charms. They also include a starter bracelet on your first purchase, and every month’s box is inspired by a geeky theme.

The Charm With Me Club March 2017 was themed “Mother of Dragons” and here’s what came inside!

These three beautiful “dragon egg” charms that look like Daenerys’ wedding gifts. Each came with different colored stones and the shape of the frame makes them look just like scales!  The fourth charm is a castle because, I guess, Daenerys wants to be queen. The little castle is cute but I think a throne would have been better for her. Or a broken chain to go her “Breaker of Chains” title!

Finally, here’s the little card with this month’s theme. Next month’s theme will be Pirates of the Caribbean!

I liked the theme and the quality of the charms this month, those dragon eggs look really pretty! I thought the castle wasn’t the best choice for the Mother of Dragons, but the charm was still cute and I will definitely use it (maybe with a princess themed bracelet).
A box from Charm With Me Club is $19.99 USD + shipping. ($4 for Canada or $6 international). And you can get a 10% discount with the coupon Pretty10.

I received this box from Charm With Me Club in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own 🙂

Did you fall in love with those dragon egg charms? Because I did! What other charms would you like to see on a Mother of Dragons bracelet?

Book Lovers Gift Guide

If you are trying to buy a gift for a book lover but don’t want to give them a book (because they probably already own it), check out this book lover gift guide I built with my favorite bookish merchandise 😀

  • Bookmarks! Because no book lover can have enough bookmarks. The ones in the picture are from paperlyandco and My Bookmark. Etsy is full of beautiful and creative handmade bookmarks, just look around in the different categories.
  • Funko Pop Figures. They make a lot of book related action figures like these from Harry Potter.
  • Candles. Because 1) There are a lot of book related candle shops around like The Melting Library, Meraki Candles and From The Page. And it’s really cool finding scents inspired by your favorite book or character. And 2) Because nice candles are always a great gift.
  • Amazon or (any Book Store) Gift Card. I swear that gift cards are in everyone’s top 5 favorite gifts. They are an invitation to a ‘treat yourself’ buying spree. I especially recommend an Amazon Gift Card because they tend to sell cheaper books and they also have the Kindle Store with thousands of e-books available. If you prefer a local book store gift card that’s great too! Let your loved ones buy the books they really want to read!
  • Tablet or Kindle accessories. I treat my Kindle just like the magical book it is. If your book lover friend has a reading tablet, I bet they would also appreciate some accessories, like this Kindle Hand Strap, a new case, a pouch like these ones from Out of Print, or maybe a little lamp with a clip.
  • A bookish mug. Because hot drinks are extremely popular among readers. The one in the picture is from my Redbubble shop (self-promoting myself!? Shame on me and on my cow!). But there are A LOT of different options on Redbubble and Society6. Just search terms like ‘bookish’, ‘book lover’ or ‘bibliophile’ and you will find hundreds of designs by different independent artists 🙂
  • A coloring book. Since coloring books are all the rage now, there are a lot of fun options like this one from Game of Thrones. I have also seen Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Outlander and Fantastic Beasts.
  • A pillow! Because nothings beats a cozy reading nest surrounded by fuzzy pillows. The one in the picture was designed by Evie Seo and you can buy a lot of beautiful designs on her shop. (Note: Redbubble and Society6 sell pillow COVERS, not actual pillows).
  • A book subscription. These subscriptions let you buy boxes as a gift (either a one-time box or a 3-6 month subscription) and they are really fun. This gift is a bit tricky because the items inside the box are a mystery, so you will need to follow these companies on their social networks to get some clues about the theme of the month. I have reviews and discount codes for both Lit-Cube and Owlcrate if you want to know more 🙂
