It’s time to open book subscription boxes! This post includes my Owlcrate & Owlcrate Jr August 2017 Unboxing.

I got both of these boxes for free so I could post pictures and review them. All opinions are my own 🙂

Owlcrate August 2017 Unboxing

Owlcrate is a Young Adult subscription box that sends you a hardcover book and 3-5 goodies inspired by the theme of the book.

The August 2017 theme was Something Wicked this Way Comes.

The book of the month was The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones, a YA fantasy novel about a girl who sold her heart to a demon. (This sounds so good!) The book came with a letter from the author, a signed bookplate and a lapel pin. It also features an exclusive cover with red embroidered details (instead of white like in the original cover). Value: $11.20

It also included a second book: Sleepy Hollow and other short stories. This edition was published by Rock Paper Books, they have awesome modern covers for classic books! Value: $14.99

Then one of my favorite items, a fountain pen from Ooly (with 2 extra cartridges)! This pen is already inspiring me to practice my writing! I got a calligraphy book the other day, so we will see… Value: $4.99

Another really cool thing! These socks from Out of Print with a Poe-ka Dots pattern (get it :P?) I’ll always be happy to receive socks, especially if they have fun desings! Value: $10

A bookmark inspired by Six of Crows (I wasn’t really a fan of the book, but I like the quote). This one was designed by Hey Atlas. Value: $5

This Dark Arts Roast was my other favorite thing in the box! It was created in collaboration with Owlcrate by Happenstance. I used it this morning with my French press and I got 2 cups out of it (and there’s still a bit in the bag). It was delicious! I think I noticed the orange accent the most, and a bit of the dark chocolate. Aaah, excuse me while I get my second cup! Value: $3

Also, I got a sticker designed by Evie Seo with a quote from This Savage Song. It looks like a nice material, so I bet it will last a long time wherever I use it (if I convince myself to use it). Value: $2.50

As always, the box included a nice print (with spoilers for all the items) and a collectible pin.

That was it for the August 2017 Owlcrate box! I loved this box, I guess the only thing I would change is the month it came out. I wish this was the October box instead of August because it would have been perfect for Halloween! The theme was fun and slightly creepy, and all the goodies fit perfectly with each other and the book. Also, I really appreciate it when book boxes send classic books.

  • Price: $29.99 USD +shipping
  • Approximate value of the items included: $51.68
  • Discount Code: PRETTY15 for 15% off your first purchase

Owlcrate Jr August 2017 Unboxing

Owlcrate Jr is a monthly subscription box suitable for boys and girls aged 8-12*.

This month’s theme was Into the Woods, and the box came with a book and goodies inspired by magical woods!

* Also suitable for adults who are a kids at heart.

The book selection for Owlcrate Jr was The Apprentice Witch by James Nicol. This is a middle-grade fantasy book about a young witch and the strange things happening in the woods. The book came with a letter from the author and a signed bookplate! Value: $11.59

It also included this pack of sticky tabs, which look so cute with the cover of the book because they’re little mushrooms! These can be used as bookmarks to mark important places in books and notebooks. Value: $1.99

As always, Owlcrate Jr included a fun DIY activity. This time it was a crystal growing tree from Copernicus Toys. I already used my kit and grew my own tree overnight! Value: $7

Also, this Harry Potter bookmark is now one of my favorites! The tassel really makes a difference and it stands out from my other paper bookmarks. Designed by Ashley Visvanathan. Value: Around $6.50?

These enchanted cubes from Rory’s Story Cubes, that are useful if you need some prompts to write a fantastic story. Value: $4.99

And of course, their collectible pin of the month!

That was it for the August 2017 Owlcrate Jr box! I think this box always does a great job putting together fun items that go with the theme. This month was no exception! All the goodies are super cute and have something to do with magical woods. I also liked the crystal growing tree and the enchanted cubes because those provide more entertainment once you’re done with the book!

  • Price: $27.99 USD +shipping
  • Approximate value of the items included: $32 (I’m assuming the Harry Potter bookmark costs around $6.50)
  • Discount Code: GEEKERY15 for 15% off your first purchase

What did you think about these boxes? Do you have a favorite item? From Owlcrate I loved the Poe socks! And from Owlcrate Jr my favorite was the Harry Potter bookmark 😀

Hey guys, it’s my favorite part of the month! Time to open June’s subscription boxes 😉

Get ready for spoilers because I’ll be featuring Owlcrate Jr, Owlcrate, Lit-Cube, Litcube & Utopia Con Special Edition, The Crowns of Croswald (sent by the author of the book!) and Stars Hollow Monthly June 2017 Unboxings.

By the way, I’m experimenting with a new way to show unboxings, I hope this will be easier to digest than looking at separate posts for all the boxes. What do you guys think? Would you be interested if I included the approximate prices of the items too?

Also, I finally downloaded Adobe Lightroom to edit my pictures, but for some reason they turned really blurry! I’m sorry if the quality is not the best, I’m still getting used to this new software…

I have more pictures and unboxing videos on my Instagram, if you prefer to check them out over there. Let’s start 😀

Owlcrate Jr

The Owlcrate Jr June 2017 box was themed Gizmos and Gears and it came with:

  • A building set from Plus-Plus. Like little Lego pieces but in the shape of a #.
  • An adorable sticker sheet.
  • A Hexbug Nano (my cat, Yuki, loved this bug!).
  • A Brain-Fart pen and eraser set. The erasers are really fun because they’re puzzles (and I haven’t been able to put together one of them…)
  • The book York: The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby. It came with a letter and bookplate from the author. And a secret code door hanger.

I love that the Owlcrate Jr boxes keep getting better and better. Don’t you think all the goodies are really fun?

  • Price: $27.99 USD +shipping
  • Discount Code: Geekery15 for 15% off your first purchase

Owlcrate

The Owlcrate June 2017 box was themed Make It Out Alive and it came with:

  • An ACOTAR inspired bookmark (double sided!).
  • A Divergent bath bomb with a faction charm inside (I already used the bath bomb and got the Dauntless charm!)
  • An Ember in the Ashes inspired magnet.
  • A zombie sleep mask.
  • The book New World: Rising by Jennifer Wilson.
  • The book The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson  It came with an exclusive Owlcrate cover. A letter and bookplate from the author and a sticker sheet.

This box had so many things inside! I’m also digging the green theme… (Is green a dystopian color? Because it fits really well). Also, YAY for two books in a box.

  • Price: $29.99 USD +shipping
  • Discount Code: Pretty15 for 15% off your first purchase

Lit-Cube

The Lit-Cube June 2017 box was themed Modern Cinderella and it came with:

  • A wand made of rock candy (that I plan to use with my coffee)
  • A slipper trinket box.
  • Foamy bath salts.
  • A bookmark / journal closure with the words “Have courage and be kind”.
  • The book Cinderella.com by River Laurent.

This box also had a color theme going on. And of course it had to be blue! I wouldn’t expect any other color for a Cinderella themed box.

  • Price: $34.95 USD +shipping
  • Discount Code: PRETTYGEEKERY for 10% off your first purchase

Lit-Cube & Utopia Con Special Edition

The Special Edition Lit-Cube Utopia Con June 2017 box was themed Circus Freaks and it came with:

  • A Book Freak tote bag (with zipper, yay!)
  • A Book Freak t-shirt. I’m loving the design and I’m ready to wear it everywhere 😀
  • Cotton candy!
  • A cotton candy flavored lip-balm.
  • A Book Beau (with a creepy limited edition design).
  • The book The Circus by Olivia Levez.

This has been one of my favorite limited edition boxes from Lit-Cube! The t-shirt and tote are cute and also useful, and the cotton candy was a really fun surprise 🙂

The Crowns of Croswald

This box is a little different because it was curated especially to promote The Crowns of Croswald by D. E. Night and it came with:

I was contacted by a marketing person and asked if I wanted to get this box to help promote a fantasy book. Their description was: A book that is part Cinderella, part Harry Potter and all fun. So I obviously said YES, please send it to me! I still haven’t read the book but I plan to do it before the release date (July 21, 2017). I’m excited! 😀

Stars Hollow Monthly

Finally I got the Stars Hollow Monthly June 2017 and it came with:

  • Exclusive Stars Hollow sunglasses & Sunglasses case
  • Exclusive sandwich keeper
  • Exclusive Bid-a-Basket lunch bag
  • Collectible exclusive magnet (with the ooo-ber logo)

This box looks like you’re supposed to take everything to a picnic, and I plan to do it! (Well, maybe I won’t take the magnet with me…)

  • Price: $34.90 USD +shipping
  • Discount Code: PRETTYGEEKERY for 10% off your first purchase

Owlcrate May 2017 unboxing and spoilers 😀

This month, Owlcrate sent a box full of fun items inspired by the theme “Comic Explosion”.

Keep reading if you want to see all the contents!

The book selection was the YA contemporary novel Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia. I started reading this book as soon as I got it and I already finished! It’s about an introverted girl who draws a really famous online comic, though she keeps her identity a secret because she doesn’t want to draw attention to her real self. I found this story very relatable since the main character fights with her own “monsters” to try and be a more outgoing and expressive friend and daughter. This book came with a letter from the author, a print, a signed bookplate and an exclusive Owlcrate cover.  Value: $17.99(12.33 on Amazon).

A Funko Pop vinyl figure! They sent 7 different random superhero characters and I got Deadpool. I’m not a big fan of these Funko figures but I know a lot of people love them and I think they go really well with the theme of this box. I’ll probably give this one to my brother since I don’t know anything about this character (except that people love to cosplay as him at Comic-Con). Value: $10.99

This mini Wonder Woman candle from Dio Candle Company. This exclusive scent was inspired by Wonder Woman’s tropical island! I can’t explain the smell really well… it reminds me of something fresh and fruity, maybe with a bit of citric. It’s really good! Definitely captures the tropical island vibes. Value: $4.50

This little bag with coffee candy that REALLY tastes like coffee. I’m pretty sure my mom will steal these… they really taste like coffee grains!  Value: $1.79

A multi color pen with 6 different inks! It has Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, Purple and Black. It also has a ‘comic attack’ design. And it’s really cute, plus it will be really useful for people with journals! (Like myself, hehe).  Value: $1.95

A sampler of this new comic called AFAR. Also really fitting with the theme, and I love getting book and comic samples! I download free samples all the time to help me decide if I should buy certain books.

Finally, this box included a zipper accessory, a collectible pin and a print with all the spoilers of the box on the other side. I especially liked the pin this time! I think that’s an Owl Super-heroine?? Cute!

This box was definitely well-thought-out! All the goodies had something to do with comics (including the book, obviously).

Well, the coffee candy is not comic related, but it was included as an extra boost of energy to help save the day. So I would say it counts! I have mixed feelings about the Funko Pop because I don’t really like collecting these figures (and I don’t even know this character), but at the same time I know it adds a lot of value to this box and I’m pretty sure my brother would love to have it! Owlcrate said a month ago that they would be sending a Funko Pop, so it wasn’t an unexpected item at all. I’m glad they chose to give that spoiler away so that non-Funko fans like me could decide if they wanted to get the box or not.

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY15 to get 15% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the May box was around $37.22 (not counting the freebies like the pin, zipper accessory, comic sample, etc).

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own! 🙂

Next month’s theme is:

Make it out alive“.

Which one was your favorite item? I would say the book, but I feel like that’s cheating… So, probably the candle! It’s the perfect summer scent 😀

Owlcrate March 2017 unboxing and spoilers 😀

This month, Owlcrate sent a box full of fun items inspired by the theme “Sailors, Ships & Seas”.

Keep reading if you want to see all the contents!

The book selection was the YA fantasy and adventure novel Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller . This one sounds really fun! It’s about a pirate girl looking for a treasure map, and to find it she let’s herself be captured by another pirate (who happens to be unexpectedly clever and attractive). It also came with a signed bookplate, a pirate tattoo and a letter from the author, where she mentions her inspiration was the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, so I’m more excited to read it!  Value: $10.58

An extremely adorable notepad from Boygirlparty! I hope I can make myself use this, because it’s almost too pretty to write on it. The info card says that they sent two different exclusive designs, and I got this little octopus.  Value: $8.00

This cute compass pendant necklace (I love it)! It was exclusively designed for Owlcrate subscribers by The Geeky Cauldron. And I think this is the nicest piece of jewelry I have received from a book box, I love that the chain looks so nice and the pendants are pretty! I think it would look great either in a costume or as an everyday accessory. Value: ???

This beautiful washi tape inspired by mermaid scales! It was exclusively created by Simply Gilded. Since I love collecting stationery goodies, I immediately fell in love with this tape, and with this company and with Owlcrate and its creators. (Now excuse me while I go put it on everything).  Value: $4.50

A hand printed tea towel from Kitch Studios. I didn’t expect to receive a towel in a book box but, honestly, I like it! And it’s great that I get to adorn my house with useful and bookish items! Value: $11.00

Finally, the info card with a description of all the goodies and the collectible pin of the month (the Owlcrate owl dressed as a pirate! Awww).

I know I say this a lot, haha, but this might be one of my favorite Owlcrate boxes. I knew I would like it because of the pirate and mermaids theme, but it was a lot prettier than I expected. Also, it contained two items that I’ll probably use a lot (notepad and tape), a useful item for my kitchen (the tea towel) and a piece of jewelry, so I would say all the items are useful apart from being cute, which is a big plus!

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the March box was at least $34.08, BUT WITHOUT counting the necklace, because I couldn’t find a price for it.

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own!

Next month’s theme is:

Head Over Heels“.

Which one was your favorite item? I have no idea. I was going to say the washi tape, but… look at the little octopus on the notepad! That’s too adorable.

Owlcrate February 2017 unboxing and spoilers 😀

This month Owlcrate sent a box full of goodies inspired by the theme “Run Away with the Circus”.

Keep reading if you want to see all the contents! (Don’t be scared, there aren’t any clowns…)

The book selection was the much anticipated Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I really wanted to buy this and I’m really happy I got it in m box! It also included a signed bookplate, a card with a quote from the book, a letter from the author and an audiobook sample.  Value: $11.29

The biggest item in the box was this tote bag inspired by The Night Circus and created exclusively by Evie Bookish. The designed is pretty and colorful though the fabric is really thin and I’m not sure it could carry a lot if weight. But it would be perfect for a couple of items or as a lunch bag!  Value: $??

This delicious candle from Frostbeard Studios! It’s called Le Cirque des Rêves (The Circus of Dreams) and is a blend of Caramel Popcorn, Roasted Chestnuts and Bonfire fragrances. I think it smells like the caramel popcorn from carnivals!  Value: Around $4.5 (based on the price for 8oz – I think this one is around 2oz).

This AMAZING cinnamon donut lip balm from Geek Fire Labs Want to know what’s amazing about it? It makes my lips taste like I just ate a mini donut, and smells like cinnamon! I love it!. Value: $4

A handmade notepad made from recycled casino playing cards. It came from Attic Journals and I love that they use recycled materials! The pad has 75 white pages. Value: $4

Finally, a pack of sticky page flags inspired by the circus and made by Girl of All Work. I REALLY liked these little flags! I loved the designs and materials and that it comes with 75 of each. I wasn’t sure about them at first because the adhesive didn’t seem to work well, but the trick is to peel them from the sides rather than from top to bottom 😉Value: Around $5.50

I think this was a great box and all the goodies are circus related which felt really magical! I also liked that most of them came from small companies.

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the February box was at least $29.29 without counting the tote bag, so you’re basically paying for the other goodies and getting a free cute bag.

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own!

Next month’s theme is:

Sailors, Ships & Seas“.

Which one was your favorite item? I can’t choose between the candle and lip balm because both smell delicious! Though the lip balm is a torture because it makes me think of donuts.

Owlcrate January 2017 SPOILERS!

This month Owlcrate sent great goodies inspired by popular and loved classic books.

Keep reading if you want to see all the “Classic Remix” contents!

1The book selection was Roseblood by A. G. Howard. I’ve wanted to read her books for ages and I definitely will do it soon! This novel is a YA retelling of The Phantom of the Opera, but with a modern day spin. Value: $11.86

A delicious tea blend from First Edition Tea Co. This exclusive fragrance was inspired by The Little Prince and it has a mint and herbal flavor. (I love mint tea!) Value: $2.50

3A second delicious item! Or at least it smells wonderful, though I don’t know about its flavor. This exclusive soap from TeaSoapBooks was inspired by The Secret Garden and smells like white tea and berries! The scent reminds me of blueberry pancakes. Value: Around $5 (since this is a smaller version of this similar product)

A Phantom of the Opera magnet designed by Sweet Sequels. It has a really cute and exclusive design, it might be the start of my bookish magnet collection. Value: Around $5

A watercolor bookmark designed by Lexy Olivia with a quote from Slaughterhouse Five. (The back says “and nothing hurt”).  Value: $8

Finally, a 2017 calendar by Obvious State featuring monthly illustrations inspired by children’s books. Value: Around $7 (based on a similar item)

I always love getting warm drinks and scented items, especially if they are inspired by my favorite books. I think the tea was a nice touch for these cold months! I also really appreciate the 2017 calendar because I forgot to buy one. The box did feel like a “classic remix”!

Overall, I liked all the items. I also think that I’ll soon have one bookmark for every book I own!

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the December box was around $39.36 (it might vary since this month I had to guess some prices)

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own!

Next month’s theme is:

Run Away with the Circus“. The next Owlcrate box will be inspired by the circus and will include a mystery bookish candle!

What did you think about this box? Which one was your favorite item? Mine was the soap, haha. I can’t wait to smell like tea and berries.

Are you interested in an EPIC bookish unboxing? 🙂

This month Owlcrate sent a bunch of fantasy inspired goodies to go with the theme “Epic”.

Keep reading if you want to see all the contents!

1The book selection was Of fire and stars by Audrey Coulthurst. This is a magical tale full of adventure and romance. Of fire and stars tells the story of Princess Denna, who has been betrothed to a prince, but ends up falling in love with the prince’s sister. The book also comes with a bookmark and a letter from the author. Value: $10.83

The next item was this Harry Potter Mystery Mini. I think these mini figures are way cuter than the full-sized Funko, the downside is that some of them are TOO SMALL. I got Hermione’s cat Crookshanks and he’s like 1″. This is definitely not Owlcrate’s fault, but I’m kinda mad that Funko sells these for $7! I mean, they advertise Harry Potter characters and I got this unrecognizable cat. (But he’s still cute, look at that face!). Value: $7.97

3My desk is so glad that I got this Game of Thrones Coaster Set. Hopefully that means no more coffee stains! This set of four coasters features the main Game of Thrones houses (but where’s house Tyrell??). The quality seems okay, but I’ll let my hot mug make the final verdict. Also, this is a licensed product from Dark HorseValue: $9.99

This one might be my favorite item from a book box EVER. This Lord of the Rings Enamel Pin from Ideal Bookshelf is super cute, adorable, well-designed and it just looks awesome. (You  might want to watch my video unboxing for this one – at the end of this post-). Value: $11.00

The next thing was a sticker inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic designed by Miss Phi. I just love hoarding stickers so I’m glad with this one.  Value: Around $2.40

Finally, the box included a greeting card from Susanne Draws. The interior is blank so you can send it as a gift (or you could ignore that this is a card and just keep it because the artwork is really prettyValue: Around $4

This box definitely felt ‘Epic’. The Harry Potter, Narnia, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings combination created the perfect atmosphere to draw me into a new fantasy novel. I also liked the licensed/ handmade products proportion. Even though I like supporting small businesses and receiving crafty items on my boxes, I also appreciate it when I get official merchandise from my favorite fandoms.

By the way, I loved the enamel pin so much I can’t stop staring at it! I also liked the Narnia card though it arrived a bit late for a Christmas card… I’ll just save it to use it next year. (If you want to see more, you can check this video unboxing I posted on Instagram 🙂 )

Overall, I loved everything (even the mini cat figure).

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the December box was around $46.19 (therefore totally worth it)

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own!

Next month’s theme is:

Classic Remix“. The next Owlcrate box will be inspired by children’s books and classic literature.

What did you think about this box? Which one was your favorite item? Mine was the pin! It’s so cute! Though I’m always afraid of wearing my pins because I could lose them… I  might keep it in its package forever.

Let’s check out the goodies inside November’s Owlcrate!*

November’s theme was Wonderland – Keep reading if you want to see all the spoilers 😀 !

* Owlcrate is a monthly subscription box that sends a hardcover book and 3-5 goodies, all related to the same theme.

1The book of the month was Heartless, by Marissa Meyer. This hardcover came with an exclusive Owlcrate cover in black and white (instead of black and red). It also included a letter from the author and a little print with a quote from the book.

Heartless is a YA fantasy retelling inspired by Alice in Wonderland. This novel tells the story of Catherine, a simple girl who dreams about opening a bakery and that somehow ends up being the ruthless Queen of Hearts that we know.  Value: $19.99 (on Amazon for $10.00)

This box included a second book! The original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but with a new cover design by Rock Paper Books. This cover is so cute -and exclusive for Owlcrate! The book also included a matching bookmark. I’m really glad I got two books on this box :D. Value: $9.99

3The next item was probably the most exciting, since it made the whole box smell wonderful! This beautiful tin with a bunch of tea bags from Riddle’s Tea Shoppe and Adagio was designed exclusively for this box. Its main ingredients are peach, vanilla and marigold flowers and it tastes really fruity :D. Value: Around $15.00

It seems like this Wonderland box was full of exclusives, because this bookmark by Authored Adornments was also designed for Owlcrate subscribers. It looks like a vintage piece and it stays in place without damaging the pages. I really liked it! Value: Around $12.00

Finally, the last (exclusive) item in the box was this Alice in Wonderland magnet designed by Evie Seo.   Value: Around $6.00 (compared to a medium sized sticker)

This month’s postcard / info card featured a really cool Alice in Wonderland illustration and came with a matching collectible pin! Value: Free

This month’s theme was not just ‘inspired’ by Alice in Wonderland. The whole box was full of all things Alice. I really liked that! It felt like a special edition or something (since normally book boxes mix a lot of fandoms in one box). I also loved the tea! This is the first time Owlcrate includes tea and it goes really well with the theme! Also, for those who subscribe to multiple book boxes, I think it’s a relief that Owlcrate sent an exclusive cover for Heartless, since a bunch of boxes sent the same book this month.

Overall, I loved the theme and all the exclusive items.

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the November box was between $52.99 and $62.98 (the difference is because the book is cheaper on Amazon). Apart from that, all the items on this box were exclusively designed for Owlcrate subscribers and can’t be bought separately.

I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own!

(If you want to see more, you can check this stop-motion unboxing I posted on Instagram🙂 )

Next month’s theme is:

Epic“. The next Owlcrate box will be inspired by Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. (It sounds Epic indeed).

What did you think about this box? Which one was your favorite item? Mine was the Alice in Wonderland book, I was not expecting it! (and the tea bags! I’m on my second cup of tea right now).

It’s that time of the month again…

I’m starting to get my subscription boxes! Honestly, I constantly look forward to the end of the month because nothing compares to receiving surprises in the mail.

I’m currently subscribed to Owlcrate, a monthly box that sends a hardcover book and 3-5 goodies, all related to the same theme.

October’s theme was Once Upon a Dream – Keep reading if you want to see all the spoilers 😀 !

1The main attraction of the box is obviously the book. Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter comes with a letter from the author, a signed bookplate and a really cool temporary tattoo (that I couldn’t wait to use – as you can see).

Vassa in the Night is a YA fantasy retelling inspired by Vasilisa the Beautiful. This novel tells the story of Vassa, a working girl in the enchanted kingdom of Brooklyn, and her talking wooden doll.  Value: $17.99 (on Amazon for $10.77)

Next item is an Oz Notebook from The Unemployed Philosopher’s Guild. It’s a really tiny and cute 64 pages notebook with decorations inside. I liked it! And I can never have too many office supplies… Value: $3.25

3As usual, Owlcrate decided to collaborate with another artist to create an exclusive piece of jewelry. This time it was a charm bracelet inspired by Sleeping Beauty (can you tell from the spindle??). The bracelet is from The Geeky CauldronValue: Around $12.00 (Since the shop is currently closed, I’m guessing based on items from TGC I have seen before).

This is my favorite item from this box! I love getting clothes and garments! This Neverland Beanie by Whosits and Whatsits is super cute. I love the embroidered feather and I definitely wear this during my next visit to Disneyland! Value: $22.00

I also love receiving bookmarks because I’m always reading about ten books at a time… so I use a lot of bookmarks (plus, I’ll inevitably lose them, so I need to stock up). This fabric button bookmark was handmade by my heart, my tribe. Apparently they sent different types of fabric, I’m lucky I got this adorable flower design! Value: $4.99

This month’s extra goodies are a postcard / info card inspired by the themes on this box + the third collectible Owlcrate pin! Value: Free

I think Owlcrate has delivered a great box again. Everything felt cohesive with the main theme and satisfied my expectations from the spoilers posted on their Instagram account. When I was opening the box, I felt like it included less items than the previous months, but then I realized that the beanie alone has a $22 value (and it’s a good quality item) so that certainly counts as two items. I also loved the letters and signed sticker from the author, they always add a warm and personal touch to the box that I look forward to. The only thing I don’t see myself using is the charm bracelet, I think it’s adorable but it’s definitely aimed at young girls (but I don’t worry about it, I have a little sister that will love it!).

Overall, I liked all the items and they are all useful and great quality.

An Owlcrate box is $29.99 + shipping. You can use my discount code PRETTY10 to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to my calculations, the value of the October box was between $53.01.08 and $60.23 (the difference is because the book is cheaper on Amazon). Apart from that, the box contains the note, tattoo and signed bookplate + the exclusive bracelet. I received this box from Owlcrate in exchange from an unboxing. All opinions are my own as always!

Next month’s theme is:

owlcrate-october-7

Wonderland“. The next Owlcrate box will be inspired by magic, mischief and romance. PLUS, the fantasy retelling on this box will have an exclusive cover!

What did you think about this box? Which one was your favorite item? Mine was the Peter Pan beanie! (and the swan tattoo – too bad it’s temporary…)
