Wonder Girl Box March 2017 Unboxing

I got my second Wonder Girl Box! A bookish subscription box that also donates to a different charity each month. The theme of the box was “Bookish is beautiful”.

Here’s my Wonder Girl Box March 2017 Unboxing:

The book selection was Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde, a YA contemporary/romance novel with a feminist geek twist. This is a story about three friends that go to a geeky convention and learn important things about themselves. I’m not the biggest fan of this genre but I’ll give it a chance because I love going to conventions. (Maybe this will be a way to get over the fact that I can never get Comic-Con tickets).  Value: $10.99 ($7.27 on Amazon)

A big, BIG lip balm made with natural and cruelty-free ingredients. The flavor is lavender, vanilla, chai and tastes smells delicious! It also came with a cute note from the seller: Zandra Beauty.  Value: $8.00

A pair of magnetic bookmarks from Paperly&Co. I got Belle with her yellow dress and Hermione casting a spell from a book! These are so cute! Also, great character selection since the theme of the box is “bookish is beautiful”. Value: $5.00

A DELICIOUS chocolate bar from Tony’s Chocolonely. The flavor I got was dark almond and sea salt and I couldn’t wait to eat it while reading the book, so I devoured it immediately after opening the box. Value: $2.25

A 2oz bag of coffee from Book Lovers Coffee. It smells great and I fell in love with the packaging, and also the free bookmark they sent! I haven’t tried it yet because I’m not sure if I can prepare it with my french press. Value: $5.00

Lastly, the box included this cute print and a pin! On the other side of the print you can read the theme of the box “Bookish is Beautiful” and some info on the charity they will donate to this month: Girl Up.

I still think that this box is really cute. I appreciate their overall branding of “girls are awesome” and their pink theme is completely #aesthetic. But in a more serious note, I’m so impressed with this company. This is only their second box and I already can see improvements in their products and pamphlets. They still aren’t big enough to offer a great value to their costumers, and I think that’s their main weakness as a subscription box. But I also know that this company donates to charity every month, so I’m happy to donate to a good cause instead of getting extra items.

The value of the March 2017 box (according to my calculations) was $31.24, and I paid $34.99 + shipping. That would mean that I paid $3.75 more than the value I received (of course I’m not counting the cost of the box, flyers and the little paper things). I’m assuming that a fraction of those $3.75 is going to charity. But I really want to see how much they are actually donating. (What if I assume I paid those extra $3.75 because they will go to charity, but they choose to only donate 5 cents?).

Overall, I like everything I received. I would love it if next time they include an info-card explaining all the items on the box, as most subscription boxes do.

The Wonder Girl Box is $34.99 + shipping. I bought this box myself and didn’t get any discount or payment to review it 🙂

Next month’s theme is:

 Girls are magic“.

Which one was your favorite item? I always choose the treats because I love getting surprise candy in the mail, so I’m biased towards the chocolate bar. And also the bookmarks.

What did you think about this box? 🙂
