Since I’ll probably never get to organize my own book themed fashion show, I’ll have to keep making these collages instead.

After I had so much fun the first time, I came with a new round of book inspired outfits 😀

1. Alice from Alice in Wonderland

I couldn’t make an Alice outfit without the blue dress, thought instead of an apron I chose a white cardigan, to make it look like the Disney version we all recognize. My favorite accessory was the ‘cheshire’ cat bag! And I couldn’t decide between the white rabbit earrings, or combining a red rose earring with a white one for the painting roses scene (so I added both!). I’m not so sure about the black shoes, sure I have gone with flats??

2. Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter

Luna’s has been my favorite outfit to create! I tried to keep the essence of her wardrobe but without making it look like a cosplay. The first thing I added was the lion sweater because of that giant lion head she wears to support Gryffindor. I also found this weird and cute cork necklace by Kate Spade that instantly reminded me of Luna! I added a blue scarf to make it more Ravenclaw-ish and, of course, her raddish earrings.

3. Thranduil from The Hobbit

Thranduil’s outfit was a special request by a friend. It was kind of difficult because I couldn’t capture the elvenking’s essence with normal everyday clothes. So I went with a more formal approach. This silvery dress with gold details definitely reminded me of his outfit in The Hobbit movies! I combined it with twig and leaf accessories to make it more Woodland inspired. I also added a pot of eyebrow makeup because his eyebrows are basically his main feature. And a reindeer watch that reminded me of the reindeer-like animal he rides.

4. Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn

I started this outfit because I wanted to use the unicorn necklace. And of course Lady Amalthea came to my mind once I started to think about unicorns. Her outfit is the simplest one, but I think it’s also the cutest. I would wear it to go out this Sunday and feel like a princess! I added a pink hair piece to make a nod to her pink unicorn mark, and a pink unicorn watch that I’ll be adding to my wishlist.

What do you think about these bookish outfits? Is there anything you would have done differently? Also, let me know if you have any requests for the next time! 🙂

I’ve wanted to make some book inspired outfits for long time now, but most of my ideas seemed rather hot for summer and I decided to wait until Autumn.

Now that September is here and the weather is starting to get colder I present you my first four book character inspired outfits. –I have to work in a shorter name for those-. Or as some people call them, ‘casual cosplay’ outfits.

1. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games

All the outfits Katniss wears in the movies are very similar to what I pictured while reading the books, that’s why I’m choosing similar pieces and colors. This outfit is inspired by her hunting attire at the beginning of the first book, including her father’s jacket and her famous braided hair. I liked how the colors combine with the Autumn season.

2. Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit

My favorite piece from this outfit is the mustard jumpsuit. I would definitely wear it with green and burgundy to feel like Bilbo going in an adventure! I also like the idea of combining it with a pixie haircut. The hobbit vibes would be unmistakable.

3. Hermione Granger from Harry Potter

This outfit might as well be called ‘Gryffindor student’, but there a few particular accessories that could turn it into a Hermione inspired one. Like her ‘little’ handbag, time-turner necklace and S.P.E.W. pin –would any other Gryffindor female student wear that pin?-.

4. Peter Pan from Peter Pan

This outfit was one of the reasons I decided to wait until –almost– fall to publish this post. All the leaves and green, and the brown oxford shoes definitely look like Autumn garments to me. Although I loved this dress, I think my favorite item was the little crocodile bracelet. It’s so cute!

It’s time for a second round of Overwatch Inspired Outfits. This time featuring Symmetra, Widowmaker, D.Va and Zarya! How would these women look in their everyday life?

Press Continue Reading to continue. [Insert countdown here].

Following my previous post on Overwatch Inspired Outfits and the reasons I like cool videogame characters, I present you now the rest of the girls in the gang. This time featuring my least and most favorite characters.

Symmetra:

Symmetra is an architect and hates disorder so I pictured her outfit as something simple and elegant. The kurta brings the Indian vibe that I got from her light-bending suit and the kaftan adds golden details for a more formal look. Turquoise earrings and nail polish complete Symmetra’s color scheme. I had a hard time picking shoes to go with this outfit, but finally went with these cute pointy flats. Do you think she would wear high heels?

Widowmaker:

This one was a difficult outfit to put together. I guess because I can’t truly understand Widowmaker’s personality. At the end I chose this low-neck top and started adding other items from there. Some red shades, a purple bodycon skirt and spider jewelry (that’s a diamond spider necklace and I can’t picture anyone else rocking it so hard). To complete the outfit I added a dark pink purse to carry all the Advil she must be taking (-after having her spine like that all day-).

D.Va

D.Va is my favorite Overwatch character. She’s a professional gamer, a teenager and likes bunnies. I can’t think of a better prompt to make an outfit. Having a lot of gamer friends I have a very good idea of the standard gamer outfit: t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. I also added a bunny backpack where D.Va would carry her gaming gear. I guess she would wear an easy and comfortable outfit but very cute at the same time. Look at that sweatshirt!

Zarya:

I have to admit that Zarya’s design didn’t look interesting to me. I went to check her bio and basically only said that she was a bodybuilder before Overwatch. Her voice lines are not that expressive either. I considered her the most boring videogame character, but I still tried to create an outfit for her. And I think I really like the results. I mean, she’s really stoic but at the same time dyes her hair pink. That gave me the prompt to create an outfit for a reserved girl that spends most of her time at the gym and likes to look cute.

Need a hero look? Are you tired of looking boring in civilian clothes? Are you obsessed with Overwatch and can’t get enough of it during the day?

If you answered YES! to one of these questions, this collection of Overwatch inspired outfits might be perfect for you…

As a little girl I always chose videogame characters based on their cuteness. It would always be Princess Peach in Mario Kart, Chun-Li in Street fighter and always the prettiest pink Pokémon in my team. Of course, with time I’ve learned that it’s not fair to dismiss ugly or unstylish characters since true power comes from within. It’s also so much fun to kick someone in the face with Dhalsim.

Even though my taste in videogame characters has changed (-a little-), there’s still a special place in my heart for cute designs, nifty outfits and cool backstories. That’s why when I got Overwatch it was so difficult to stop staring at the characters and actually play the game (so many skins to look at!).

This post is dedicated to those like me, with a special appreciation for character design and cool outfits.

Mercy:

“Heroes never die.” Mercy is a medic and scientist, therefore one of the coolest characters. This outfit was inspired by Mercy’s Valkyrie suit, with winged accessories and a chic white coat. It might be missing a skirt but that’s just to embrace the videogame character look. Purple eyeshadows add an extra mature touch to achieve Mercy’s sophisticated appearance.

Tracer:

Tracer’s outfit is a mix between a pilot and a runner. She’s young and playful so I pictured her real-life outfit comfortable and somewhat stylish. Bright running leggings and sneakers combined with a leather jacket (with patches) was my pick. Also, a pixie haircut to fully pull it off.

Pharah:

Pharah’s style is polished (literally) and rather elegant. She also seems proud about her Egyptian roots. I decided to go with a blue jumpsuit accessorized with gold Horus themed jewelry. Black eyeliner in Horus style and ready to make justice rain from above.

Mei:

I think Mei might be wearing more layers than these. I gave her a big jacket and Uggs since that’s basically what she wears in the game. I also added two more layers of clothes: a cozy sweater and a t-shirt from a climate safety organization (350). Mei thinks our world is worth fighting for and she fights to preserve the environment. She also seems like a friendly girl and wears a pretty hair piece.
