March 2017 Wrap-Up!

I’m so excited about this post because March was SO FULL OF BOOKS.

Here are some things I got, discovered or enjoyed this month:

Book Haul of the Month

Big Mushy Happy Lump by Sarah Andersen. I love her comics because they are so fun and relatable. I laughed out loud while nodding in agreement reading this book.

From Owlcrate and Owlcrate Jr I got these two books. Daughter of the Pirate King is, well, a novel about a pirate girl. And Hello, Universe is a middle grade novel about unexpected frienships.

In my Wonder Girl Box I got Queens of Geek, which is a romance novel about three friends going to a geeky convention.

I also got two different retellings of Beauty and the Beast. The first one is Hunted (got it in my Uppercase box), and in this version the Beauty is actually a hunter looking for the beast that killed her father. The second one is Bellamy and the Brute (got it in my Lit-Cube box). This one is a contemporary mystery about a girl who is babysitting in a big house, and the rumors say that a young and disfigured man used to live there.

These two had been on my wishlist for a long time! The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook has recipes for all the food things mentioned through the Harry Potter series, and I really want to make them all. Would you be interested in a blog series about some of the recipes on this book? The second one is, of course, the Fantastic Beasts screenplay. I refused to buy it for a long time because I don’t usually read screenplays… but I guess when it comes to Harry Potter I NEED IT ALL.

Finally, these are the digital books I got this month. The Jane Eyre audiobook has a great narrator and I’ve been listening to it while doing chores. I also got the Kindle version of The Phantom of the Opera (it was free on Amazon, yay!).

What I Read This Month

  • Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, here’s my review! (Hint: I didn’t like it, but I think it had some good parts).
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I also posted a review for this one. (And did like it. Except for the insta-love part).
  • I also read The Phantom of the Opera but haven’t finished it yet. The Kindle app says that I need to read another 1 hr 23 min to finish it, so I’ll probably do it tonight!
  • And, I’ve been listening to Jane Eyre and really liking it!

Other Things I Loved

The new Beauty and the Beast movie!!! ♥ So good and beautiful and fun. I loved it. And I love its soundtrack. I’ve been listening to it every day since the movie came out. And I still want to cry when I listen to Evermore.

This picture counts for two things because 1) I’m loving the Nintendo Switch and 2) I’m loving the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I didn’t expect to fall in love with an open-world videogame, but it’s been really fun! And it is a beautiful, colorful world worth exploring. Also, it has a new feature that allows you to cook meat and vegetables and create your own recipes (to recover health during the game). So I’m obviously spending half my time just cooking.

That’s all! I hope you found something interesting or maybe a new favorite thing. 🙂

What did you enjoy or got to try this month?

I think that I need to get some box subscriptions…but I have a few other things to take care of first. I’d like to thank you for mentioning the comic by Sarah Andersen, reading the title is the first thing that has made me smile as I’ve been having a bad month or so. But anyway, I’ve read Caraval and I loved it as well, and the whole instant love thing is so cliched. I can’t wait until the next book, and they get to know one another bet – I expect fireworks, TBH. I’ve yet to see Beauty and the Beast…a friend invited me to go see it but I was having a bad day. :/
