Litcube March 2017 Unboxing

This month was definitely Beauty and the Beast month for me, so I’m reaaally glad that Lit-Cube sent a bunch of goodies inspired by this story!

Here’s my Litcube March 2017 Unboxing with a book and items inspired by the theme Who could ever learn to love a beast?” which included:

Bellamy and the Brute by Alicia Michaels. This YA romance/mystery is a retelling of (I bet I don’t need to tell you at this stage, but I will) Beauty and the Beast. In which a teenager named Bellamy is offered a summer job babysitting at a big house in her town where, the rumors say, the eldest son became a hermit after acquiring a strange illness. I honestly was a little put off because of the title, but the premise sounds interesting and I’m looking forward to reading it! (Especially because of the mystery part) Value: $10.95 ($6.76 on Amazon)

A Beauty and the Beast inspired mug with the quote “I want adventure in the great, wide somewhere”. And it has those little flying plants that appear on the (Disney) movie scene while Belle sings that line 🙂  Value: $19.99 (according to the info card)

A 4 OZ. candle from In the wick of time! The candle is called “Belle’s Books” and it’s supposed to smell like books and roses. While I think it smells delicious, I can’t smell any books on it, only the roses. That might be a good thing because it would be weird to burn a book scented candle! (What if it smells like burned books?) Value: $10.99 (according to the info card)

An exclusive “Be our guest” lip balm by Olive Kisses (I couldn’t find their shop online). It says the flavor is Sweet Lemon Pie… and that’s true! It totally made my lips taste like lemon cake or lemon cookies, or something similar and delicious. (Though I’m not sure if the lemon flavor was inspired by Beauty and the Beast. I don’t remember anything tasting like that in the movie).  Value: $2.99 (according to the info card)

Finally, the snack (my favorite part of the box!). A little sweet treat by Piece of Cake, it’s an Oreo cookie covered with a beautiful roses design in white chocolate. It was delicious. And it was torture taking pictures of it because I wanted to eat it IMMEDIATELY.  Value: $2.95 (according to the info card)

I think I expected this box to include some Disney Beauty and the Beast merchandise, but I’m really glad with the twist it took! All the merch came from little businesses and was inspired by the story rather than being an “in your face” reference. I also like it a lot when these book boxes include items that you can use while reading your book, for example the mug, candle and snack. It’s a really fun and cute experience!

Overall, I think this box was and smelt delicious.

A Lit-Cube box is $34.95 with FREE shipping in the US. You can use my discount code prettygeekery to get 10% off your first box 🙂

According to the info card included, the value of the box was $47.87  It’s definitely a good deal if you like all the items, though I could see the mug and book being cheaper if bought somewhere else. I also think the candle adds a lot of value since those tend to be pricey everywhere.

I received this box from Litcube in exchange for an unboxing. All opinions are my own 🙂

Next month’s theme is:

You’ve got mail!“. The next Lit-Cube box will be inspired by a 90’s romance movie 😉

Which one was your favorite item? I think mine was the cookie, haha, I like sweet treats too much. And I also loved the lemon lip balm (because it tastes like a sweet treat too!).
