Harry Potter Nail Art: Gryffindor

Hi! I’ve wanted to make a Harry Potter nail art design since I started to grow my nails. This is the first time I try doing nail art on my own and it was actually very easy :).

Featuring my Hogwarts house, Gryffindor.

I hope this easy tutorial inspires you to try a Harry Potter nail style too!

Notes:

  • To draw the lines I used washi tape. Be careful is you do this too! It might leave adhesive residue in your nails. Try removing some adhesive before applying it to your nails (by sticking the tape to your forearm and removing it repeatedly)
  • Before applying the tape, make sure the base color (red) is completely dry. I wasn’t very patient the first time and made a mess! I had to it all over again.
  • Once you applied the tape, go ever it with the second color (gold). Try to apply the color following the direction of the tape (diagonalley)
  • Be patient with the second color. Leave for at least 15 minutes before removing the tape. Watch an episode of Gilmore Girls if necessary.
  • I used a toothpick to paint the Harry Potter silhouette. (You can also use a bobby pin)

I’ll try to make the other houses in the future, though I don’t know if I would wear them as proudly as my own house… Maybe I could ask my boyfriend to make the Slytherin design on his nails 😉

Very nicely done and cute design! Not sure that it would last long enough on my nails though, but maybe I will give it a try one day 🙂

Thank you 🙂 ! I already washed the dishes and did a lot of cleaning today and my nails are still perfect, haha. I’ll do them again for the release of The Cursed Child!

I don’t think I’ll have the patience for this…haha! But the end result is lovely indeed. Solid green is good enough for this sloth XD

What do you think??
