I’ve wanted to play along with a book tag and luckily I was tagged with an awesome one!
AN UPCOMING RELEASE YOU WISH YOU COULD GET YOUR HANDS ON RIGHT NOW
It might be an obvious one, but this is the one book I would Accio right now! It’s been years since I read A Dance with Dragons and, even if the series already spoiled part of this book, I can’t wait to know what happens next.
FAVORITE SERIES STARTER
This one entered my list of favorite fantasy books while I was still reading it. I loved the magic system since it’s similar to alchemy and not he usual ‘infinite magic’ style.
A BOOK THAT GAVE YOU ALL THE WARM & FUZZIES
I didn’t expect to smile so much during a historical fiction retelling on the life of a beheaded queen. But this book is full charming characters and cute romance, it might have been my favorite summer read this year. (I wrote a review here!).
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU UGLY CRY
This is the first book I remember making me cry. It was during the death of certain beloved character…
BOOKISH HERO OR HEROINE YOU WANT AROUND TO PROTECT YOU IN REAL LIFE
What would be better than a book about superheroes to choose someone to protect me? I would definitely choose Doctor Manhattan, I can’t think of anyone who could overpower him!
A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD MAKE EVERYONE READ BECAUSE YOU LOVED IT SO MUCH
With this spell I didn’t choose my most loved book, but one that I would like everyone to read. It’s The Bell Jar. I think everyone could benefit from learning a little more about mental disorders. (I wrote a review here!)
A BOOK SERIES YOU WISH NEVER ENDED
Another obvious choice but, can you imagine if the series continued forever?? Maybe we could get prequels with the Marauders as protagonists!
A BOOK WITH AN UPLIFTING MESSAGE
I think apart from being extremely funny, Allie’s comics send a message of support and believing in yourself :).
A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET YOU EVER READ
This is the third Harry Potter book I choose for this tag but I have a point! I won’t mention spoilers but I truly wish I could forget certain scenes from this book – which I refuse to accept as canon. (One of this awful memories involves Bellatrix and Voldemort) – my complete review is here!
AN AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS ALWAYS GET YOU OUT OF A READING SLUMP
I promise this is the last Harry Potter reference for today! But yes, even when I’m going through the worst reading slump ever, I could never not want to read Harry Potter.
A SWOON-WORTHY HERO OR HEROINE
Aragorn, my king <3
A BOOK THAT CAUSED YOU TO STOP DOING ALL OTHER THINGS UNTIL YOU FINISHED IT
I could have read this book in one sitting but I was visiting my boyfriend when I started it (and I got to page 100). I think it was a combination of an interesting plot and the most fluid writing style I’ve encountered. (Literally. The author doesn’t write in paragraphs. He uses big run-on sentences with almost no periods in the whole book) – More on José Saramago here!
A BOOK THAT WAS PAINFUL TO READ (FOR WHATEVER REASON) OR BROKE YOU
I just talked about The Vegetarian a couple of days ago. It was a very violent book, even if a good one. But I will never forgive it for killing a dog :(.
A BOOK THAT HAD YOU LAUGHING OUT LOUD
The entire Hitchhiker’s series is hilarious, I didn’t even like comedy books until I read Douglas Adams. I still laugh out loud any time I pick one of the novels (or whenever I remember the poor Bowl of Petunias).
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SEND IT (OR YOUR E-READER) FLYING
I still haven’t finished this one but I wanted to send it flying since the beginning. I found the characters extremely unlikable, unrelatable and they just curse a lot.
A BOOKISH WORLD YOU WISH YOU COULD VISIT
Since I didn’t want to use another Harry Potter book, I’m going with the Inkworld. I loved how magical everything was in there. Can you imagine living inside a colorful fairy tale like this one?
A BOOK WITH A SHOCKING TWIST OR ENDING
I won’t say too much so I don’t ruin it for some of you… But the ending of 1984 might be my favorite ending sentence ever. I don’t think it is necessarily a plot twist, but it’s shocking!
A CHARACTER DEATH THAT DESTROYED YOU
I could have chosen this book for the ‘Book You Want to Send Flying’ tag because I almost threw my Kindle away when I read (beloved character)‘s death. It wasn’t fair. Not fair at all. I literally felt sad for DAYS after finishing this book.
BEST SERIES CONCLUSION
As I mentioned above, I loved the five books in the Hitchhikers trilogy (and you read that right). But it also made me so happy when another author decided to continue writing in Douglas Adams’ universe. I felt like the series deserved a slightly happier ending.
